Sliding sash windows comprise of two moving sashes that slide vertically, one in front of the other within the box frame. The traditional ‘box’ sash window uses weights, cords, and pulleys to counterbalance the sashes, and can be supplied as either single glazed, or double glazed. Spring Balance sash windows use a spiral spring mechanism to counterbalance the sashes instead of weights, and the simplified window frame assembly offers a very cost effective alternative.
