Our traditional single glazed casement windows are a faithful replication of the original window that you will see throughout the country. This is the type of casement window specified for listed properties or those in conservation areas. These windows typically have a sash thickness of 35mm to 45mm and glazing is usually 4mm thick, but can accommodate most types of single glazing from 3mm agricultural glass to 8.4mm acoustic insulating glass. Glazing is carried out in the factory using traditional linseed oil putty. Following tradition, they are most often supplied with one coat primer.
Final decoration is carried out in situ once the glazing putty has hardened off. However we also offer the option to factory finish these windows, applying the full decorative coating to the windows prior to delivery, which has obvious advantages. Original windows would have been hung with cast iron or brass butt hinges, which can be replicated, or replaced by more robust stainless steel versions. All windows are draught sealed as standard.
